A strong healthy back is a key component to staying active and being able to move freely and fluidly throughout your life. Yoga is a gentle yet powerfully effective practice that can reduce spinal compression symptoms, improve posture, boost flexibility and increase overall strength. Depending on how the practice is approached, yoga can be either helpful or aggravating. In this hands-on workshop, Lisa Ponczek (RYT500) and I are working together to provide a supportive practice that will stretch and strengthen the back. A safe practice can help prevent future injury as well as assist the healing process and improve limitations from existing issues.
What to expect:
*Gentle, floor-based and standing postures to stabilize and strengthen the spine
*Assistance in customizing the postures to target your needs to avoid injury
*Guidance in postures that decompress the spine and supporting structures to release tension Poses to help facilitate core strength and range of motion
This workshop is for anyone interested in helping to alleviate back pain or who is recovering from injury which they have been given permission by their doctor to engage in a gentle yoga practice. This workshop will also be beneficial for yoga teachers who want to learn to safely and effectively help their students with back issues.
